Exploring your family's Portuguese genealogy

It's exciting to learn your family's story, especially when it includes the beauty and culture of Portugal. And "exciting" is exactly the word that was used to thank me for emailing the photo, left, after one of my research trips. Can you visualize your great-great-grandparents being married here?

So . . . whether you've hit a brick wall along your own well-worn research path, can't find the time to squeeze your beloved genealogy into the current schedule or, frankly, haven't a clue where to start, we would like to help.

Introduction: Genealogy Research in Portugal

PortugueseRoots is owned by Deb Kleber, an American genealogist living in Portugal and specializing in Madeira Island and continental Portugual genealogy. In 1998, she founded the MadeiraExiles Website which provides extensive, no-charge (FREE!) assistance to researchers of the 19th-century Protestant/Presbyterian refugees from Madeira to the United States and West Indies.

Combining on-site genealogy research experience in both the United States and Portugal, Deb is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle.
