Lisbon is a paradise for those who like to walk: the main streets are wide, the winding side streets are charming, the buildings are not overwhelmingly tall and another amazing vista is always waiting just around the corner (or up the hill). Which is exactly why Lisbon Walks is such a great product.
Sure, there are guided walking tours, all over the city. Some are paid and some are free. There are walking tours especially for families. In fact, Lisbon Walker, the maker of the Lisbon Walks cards, also offers guided walking tours.
But what if you just want to explore the city on foot, all by yourself? Well, then you pull out your pack of Lisbon Walks cards, choose whichever looks the most interesting, and set off.
There are 52 cards (one for each weekend of the year, the makers claim), plus two extras. Each card has a map on the front, and an explaination of the walk–what you’ll see and why–on the back. The box also includes a folding map with an overview os the walks’ location around the city and some general information about Lisbon.
The front of each card has a map of the route, with major sights numbered along the way. On the back, the cards have short summary of the walk a description of each numbered item.
